Grant to Support Emergency Preparedness, Disaster Recovery and Teen Driver Safety
Montclair, NJ, March 29, 2012 - State Farm® Insurance Companies awarded the National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives (NOBLE) a $17,300 Safe Neighbors Grant to help support their emergency preparedness, disaster recovery and teen driver safety programs. The grant will be used by NOBLE of Northern New Jersey (NNJ) to help fund the chapter’s EPP initiative - a broad based community campaign to Educate, Prepare and Prosper
“One of the most critical issues facing our communities is in the area of emergency management, which includes disaster preparedness and recovery,” said NOBLE NNJ President Don Wactor. “Flood waters and most recently Tropical Strom Irene impacted many New Jersey communities. They serve as examples of why we all need to continually prepare in order to effectively manage weather related disasters.”
NOBLE's EPP initiative will bring together law enforcement and emergency management, businesses, community based organizations and educators. Together, they’ll focus on developing and implementing a plan to ensure that when the next disaster strikes communities are better prepared to respond to directions and warnings, survive the conditions, receive support where necessary, volunteer to support others and prosper in the aftermath of disaster.

Each year State Farm awards grants to non-profit organizations, governmental entities, and educational institutions for programs that help make communities safer, stronger, and more educated.
