New York (Saturday, July 21, 2012 at 11AM) - Flower City Habitat (FCHH) dedicated a new home at 424 Orange Street in Rochester, NY.
"State Farm's commitment to Rochester is apparent by their continued support of families in need of affordable housing." says Teresa Bianchi, Development Manager for FCHH.
The Cooke family, homeowners of 424 Orange Street, received a hammer and a Bible, traditional gifts given at Habitat for Humanity house dedication ceremonies. The hammer symbolizes the hard-work and 450 hours of sweat-equity that the homeowner has put into their home (and others). The Bible is given as a symbol of the faith and dedication that is the foundation of the home.
424 Orange Street is a unique home to FCHH. It was pre-built by students of BOCES2 Career and Technical Education Courses (BOCES-2) program last year, and moved in two-halves onto the foundation at 424 Orange Street in February of 2012. The home was then finished with over 1,700 hours of volunteer work from the Rochester community. Funding from State Farm and other corporate sponsors made the home possible.Arlene J.
