State Farm® Awards 14 New Cars Across the Nation
Avondale, AZ., (October 31, 2012). Today, State Farm Insurance awarded a local Tolleson Teen a new 2013 Chevy Sonic. To continue the positive momentum of National Teen Driver Safety Week, held earlier this month, State Farm is celebrating new driver Honey Mae G. and her family from Tolleson, AZ by presenting her with a 2013 Chevy Sonic. State Farm agent Michael Velazquez was on hand to present the keys and share in the celebration. Honey Mae is one of fourteen teen drivers across the U.S. and Canada who won the grand prize for their support of the Celebrate My Drive initiative in September.
Across North America on September 15th, high school officials, safety advocates, local law enforcement, and government leaders joined with more than 1,400 State Farm agents and tens of thousands of teens and their parents for a celebration of this years class of new teen drivers. State Farm is taking a different approach to teen driving safety by sharing positive driving habits and experiences rather than some of the more traditional approaches that often scare new drivers. The company celebrated new drivers at more than 400 Celebrate My Drive events organized in communities large and small making it North Americas largest-ever simultaneous gathering of new teen drivers.
The winner, a senior from Tolleson High School, remained surprised that she had won the car through Celebrate My Drive, even as the official presentation of the vehicle began. But once she saw the car and was presented the keys, her smile beamed. The 17 year old honor student and tennis player is looking forward to driving her new car back and forth to college beginning next year. Asked how she heard about the car giveaway, she responded that her mother heard an advertisement for Celebrate My Drive on the radio and asked her to attend the Scottsdale event because it was focused on safety. She attended and entered to win the car. She said, I listened to my mother and I won the car thank you, State Farm.

National Teen Driver Safety Week is observed the third week of October, to bring attention to the number one killer of American teens, car crashes. During this week we encourage parents, young drivers, lawmakers and educators to focus on working together to change risky teen driving behaviors and help save lives. As a result of their combined goal of reducing injury and death from teen crashes, State Farm® and the Childrens Hospital of Philadelphia teamed up in 2007 to support a Congressional resolution designating National Teen Driver Safety Week. Working together with many valued safety organizations, we continue to provide leadership and advocacy around this tragedy.
