State Farm Provides Money Management International with $10,000 Grant

Grant to Support Financial Education Classes in New Jersey

Bridgewater, NJ (April 30, 2012) - State Farm® Insurance Companies awarded Money Management International a $10,000 grant to help support the organization’s financial education classes and programs. Since 2010, State Farm and Money Management International have worked together to meet the critical and increasing demand for basic money management education. This grant will help provide New Jersey residents with training focused on credit, money management, options for dealing with financial crisis and achieving financial goals such as homeownership.

To implement the grant, Money Management International will collaborate with 12 New Jersey community organizations in six counties. The organization will conduct 25 financial education classes that will directly impact 375 individuals and benefit an additional 1,005 people who

live in the same households as the class participants. Money Management International uses three innovative approaches to address financial education. First, they actively engage the learner by encouraging them to participate in discussions, complete worksheets and test their knowledge on the skills and principles presented. Second, they provide class participants with no-cost/individualized one-on-one assistance to address their specific needs. Third, they make other resources available online at MoneyManagement.org, such as on-demand webcasts, money-saving tips and an "ask the experts" resource.

State Farm understands the importance of financial education and safety. “State Farm is pleased to support Money Management International in its efforts to help provide New Jersey individuals and families with financial education,” said State Farm Agent Audrey Jankucic. “We’re continually looking for opportunities that help people make sound financial decisions, and for opportunities to make our communities stronger and safer.”

Each year State Farm awards grants to non-profit organizations, governmental entities, and educational institutions for programs that help make communities safer, stronger, and more educated.
