Newark, Ohio, September 12, 2012 - The Works: Ohio Center for History, Art & Technology will open “DRIVE ALIVE”, its newest interactive exhibit thanks to support from State Farm®, on Saturday, September 15. The museum will open at 11 a.m. for a public grand opening with guests enjoying free admission and giveaways courtesy of State Farm® until 5 p.m.
“DRIVE ALIVE” takes center stage in The Works' Go Lab and features several interactive components including two driving simulators, impaired goggle challenges, driving games, and car seat safety information. “When designing this exhibit, we wanted to make sure it had educational value for all ages; from new drivers to experienced drivers, and even non-drivers”, said Marcia Downes, Managing Director of The Works. “DRIVE ALIVE” exceeded our expectations and we are excited to see how all of our guests interact and what they take away from the exhibit.”
Messages throughout the “DRIVE ALIVE” exhibit highlight auto safety, specifically related to the issues of teen drivers, seat belt usage, and distracted driving which directly aligning with State Farm's® priorities of safe driving and education. The State Farm® web site, and its abundance of educational information and links to additional auto-safety resources is also featured in the exhibit.
The Works is also taking the lessons of “DRIVE ALIVE” on the road through safety-related educational curriculum in the disciplines of science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). This curriculum will be presented to schools and community groups throughout the community with outreach activities focusing on interactive auto safety lessons for pre-driver, teen drivers, and parents.
