State Farm® Customers Impacted by the Taylor Bridge Fire Should Contact Their Agent, Save Receipts for Temporary Living Expenses
Bozeman, Mont., August 30, 2012 - Evacuated residents impacted by the Pine Creek Fire are encouraged to contact their agent right away – even if they don't know yet whether their property is affected by the wildfire.
Most homeowner's policies provide temporary living expense coverage for customers required to evacuate, such as motel and food expenses, subject to their policy deductible.
"As this fire continues to spread and evacuations are being called we are available to our customers," said State Farm spokesman Brad Hilliard. "We recommend if you've been evacuated, contact us as soon as you can, let us know that you're safe and hold on to receipts for expenses you may be incurring as a result of the fire."
If evacuations have not been called for your area but could be soon take time now to prepare everything you need in case you have to leave at a moment's notice. Put medications in your bag and any other essential items. Also, it is a good idea to photograph every room in your home as a reference in case you need to create personal property inventory.
"Always make safety your top priority," says Hilliard. "Take care of the immediate needs of your family, do what you can to prepare for the worst case scenario and contact your insurance agent as soon as possible to help address your needs."
