Santa Rosa, CA - On Monday, April 30, State Farm is presenting Pivot Learning Partners with a $15,000 check for the non-profit organization’s work with the North Bay Collaborative for Teacher Effectiveness. The North Bay Collaborative is a group of 12 school districts that have brought together stakeholders including teachers, administrators and union representatives to work collaboratively to strengthen teacher evaluation systems in these districts. With the generous support of State Farm and the FullCircle Fund, Pivot Learning Partners has been facilitating the group’s 2011/2012 workshop sessions and will be following up to provide customized support to individual school districts that are moving forward with this ground-breaking work.
“Helping schools, teachers and students reach their potential is something State Farm is committed to every day and in communities across the country,” said Mike Mutch, State Farm Agency Field Executive. “Giving children the best opportunity to prepare themselves for a global marketplace is a responsibility we all share.”
The goal of Pivot Learning Partners work with the North Bay Collaborative is both to build the capacity of district teams to take a collaborative approach to strengthening evaluation systems and also to demonstrate to the larger education community the value of this approach to improving teaching and learning.
State Farm has been a supporter of Pivot Learning Partners’ work for over a decade both in the North Bay and throughout the state of California. “State Farm’s support has allowed us to take on challenging issues like teacher evaluation even in these difficult budget times,” remarked Pivot Learning Partners Executive Director Merrill Vargo. “The education of the next generation is the responsibility of the entire community, and we applaud State Farm for its abiding commitment to the children of California.”
