The home of the Panthers to receive $5,000 grant courtesy of State Farm®
Santa Maria, CA (May 31, 2012) - Pioneer Valley High School has just been awarded $5,000 as part of State Farm California’s Good Neighbor Citizenship Grant Program.The school will be recognized for their environmental science program.
The check presentation took place on Friday, May 18, 2012.
The PVHS grant will go to support student-led programs that focus on community and environmental efforts.The students will buy technology that will monitor indoor air pollution and then will report their results to the principal and the Santa Maria School Board.
“The program’s purpose is to have students learn more about the environment, improve their ability to use technology, and to develop communication skills with other students and adults,” said Riccardo Magni, PVHS Science and Biology teacher.
Mr.Magni was recently named 2012 - 2013 Santa Barbara County Teacher of the Year.
