Columbia, SC, October 23, 2012 State Farm is actively reaching out to military veterans through a new Agency Recruiting campaign focused on servicemen and women transitioning to civilian life. The company is holding an Agency Military Showcase in Columbia, SC on November 1st. The purpose of the event is to highlight the State Farm Agency Opportunity to a military audience and prospective future State Farm agents. Vice President Agency Reggie Gallant will be present as well as an agent panel who have military background and made the transition to State Farm.A buffet style dinner will also be served.
“Finding a job in this economy can be tough enough,” said spokesman Justin Tomczak. “State Farm wants to ensure that when our veterans arrive home, we thank them for their service and provide them the career opportunities they deserve.”
State Farm has established a network of military ambassadors and recruiting specialists who visit bases to help veterans, who are transitioning to civilian life, write resumes and conduct mock interviews. State Farm also will be participating in monthly military recruiting career fairs.
State Farm is spreading the word about these outreach efforts via social media. Three videos were recently posted to State Farm's YouTube channel. The videos feature current State Farm agents and leaders who joined the company after serving our country.
“We've found veterans to be talented candidates for Agency opportunities,” Tomczak said. “The videos feature a network of veterans from across the country who have successfully transitioned into our State Farm workforce.”
The featured veterans talk about their service, their State Farm life, and the solid values and opportunities that each provide. They also come from a range of military ranks, including Tuscon Agency Field Consultant David Campanale who served as Chief Master Sargent of the Air Force.
“Through sharing the experiences of our State Farm veterans, service members will understand the alignment of values and skill sets and see opportunity to build a strong career and develop roots,” Tomczak said. “Then they can act on that opportunity by joining State Farm.”
