Seattle, WA, January 24, 2012 – In response to the widespread damage caused by the snow and ice in the Seattle/Puget Sound area State Farm is encouraging its customers to contact their local agent or file a claim under the manage claims section of StateFarm.com as soon as possible.

“First and foremost, our hearts go out to the people affected by this storm,” said Brad Hilliard, State Farm Spokesperson. “Our Local agents are here and ready to respond to our customers’ needs as quickly as possible.”

If you sustained damage to your car, home or business take the following steps:

  1. Make safety your top priority when surveying damaged property.
  2. Contact State Farm as soon as possible to report any damage you sustained. Let us know if your home is uninhabitable.
  3. If it is safe to do so, make temporary repairs to remove fallen debris and cover any openings created by the storm.
  4. Save all receipts you obtain for hiring professionals or purchasing supplies to make temporary repairs.
