State Farm is hiring agents and looking for veterans to move to the front lines.
Cheyenne, Wyo., April 18, 2012 - According to a recent report from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, veterans who served on active duty any time since September 2001 are returning home to another fight, a fight for jobs. Over the past several years in Wyoming thousands of military veterans have been returning from overseas and transitioning back to civilian life. State Farm is actively reaching out to them through a new Agency Recruiting campaign focused on servicemen and women who are looking for a rewarding career.
“Drawing from almost a century of past experience, we’ve found that veterans are talented candidates for agency opportunities,” says Wyoming Agency Recruiter Tom Fajardo. “We’ve got story after story for those who’ve successfully transitioned into our State Farm family.”
Local Cheyenne Agent Alan Ose joined State Farm in 1982 after years of active duty with the Air Force including during the Vietnam War. Ose found becoming an agent for State Farm played too many of the strengths that made him so successful with the Air Force.
“On several levels I found the tools I gained during my ten years with the United States Air Force really helped me as an agent,” said Ose. “My military work ethic and high expectations for myself and others, really brought value to starting up and building my agency. It’s hard work, but if you’re committed and surround yourself with a strong team, you’re bound to succeed.”
State Farm has established a network of military ambassadors and recruiting specialists who will visit bases to help veterans, who are transitioning to civilian life, write resumes and conduct mock interviews.
State Farm is also participating in monthly military recruiting career fairs throughout the year in connection with Corporate Gray and Brazen Careerist.
“Traveling the world with the Air Force exposed me to some unique experiences,” added Ose. “Knowing more about the world around you helps to connect with people in so many different ways. Relationship building has been key when it comes to building strong relationships with my customers.”
