New Survey Reveals 60% of Drivers have Junk in Their Trunk
May 31, 2013 Severe weather = a hazardous commute. To complicate matters drivers often find themselves stranded and stuck with high emergency roadside bills because all they have is junk in the trunk.
According to a new survey by State Farm® and KRC Research, more than 60 percent of drivers have some sort of junk (non-emergency supplies) in their trunk ranging from extra clothes and shoes to used food or drink containers. The good news is that 99 percent of drivers carry at least one emergency item, such as spare tire, but less than one in 10 drivers carry all the essential emergency roadside supplies:
Even on a relatively short trip, it can be easy to find yourself stranded. No matter if its your morning commute, or a weekend road trip its important to be prepared, said Brad Hilliard, State Farm Spokesman. These findings highlight the importance of having the right emergency equipment to get you safely back on the road.
Hilliard also recommends speaking with your local insurance agent about adding emergency road side service to your auto policy. This is an affordable coverage that will reimburse you for reasonable expenses associated with towing, a jump start and other needs to get you on your way.
