Child safety seat inspectors will offer free inspection and seat installation for community.
Washington, D.C., (April 3, 2013) To help parents ensure their child safety seat is installed correctly, State Farm®, ADT, Safe Kids Baltimore and Maryland Kids in Safety Seats are hosting a child safety seat check event at the State Farm office at 1715 Gwynn Oak Avenue in Baltimore, Maryland, on Saturday, April 13, 2013.
Child safety seat inspectors will be on site to give parents and caregivers a free, individualized hands-on training on the proper installation of their own child safety seat in their own vehicles.
When used correctly a child safety seat can reduce the risk of death by more than 71 percent, but according to Safe Kids Worldwide more than 73 percent of car seats are not being used correctly. As a result, motor vehicle crashes are the leading killer of children under 13.
In Maryland, infants and children must be in an age and size appropriate child safety seat or booster seat until they are at least 8 years old or more than 4 foot 9 inches tall.
