What: Habitat for Humanity will dedicate a house in the Sandtown neighborhood of Baltimore, Maryland. The house was built by members of Sandtown Habitat for Humanity, University of Maryland-College Park and UMBC.
A campus chapter is a student-led, student-initiated organization on a high school or college campus that partners with the local Habitat affiliate to build, fundraise, advocate and educate to support the work of Habitat for Humanity.
"Habitat for Humanity is honored to work with the students from the local universities to rebuild these homes for the Sandtown community," said Sandtown Habitat for Humanity Co-Director Michael Barb.
"State Farm believes communities are the foundation of society and we're committed to helping maintain the vibrancy and culture of our neighborhoods," said Chris Hallberg, an insurance account representative with the Scott Garvey State Farm Insurance Agency. "We are proud to work with Habitat for Humanity to build safer, stronger and better educated communities."
Earlier this year, the University of Maryland Habitat for Humanity Campus Chapter was one of 27 campus chapters was selected to receive a $5,000 matching grant from State Farm for its outstanding work in creating affordable housing in partnership with low-income families.
The Campus Chapters program is one of the many programs Habitat has to engage youth ages 5 to 25 in Habitat's work. In addition to the ongoing support State Farm offices provide to local Habitat affiliates across the United States, State Farm has served as the national corporate sponsor of Habitat for Humanity's youth programs since 2007.
