Neptune City, NJ (June 2013) Being recognized by ones peers is one of the highest forms of flattery. State Farm® Agent Mansa Nicome recently experienced that when he was honored along with 39 other professionals by The Network Journal as one of the 2013 40 Under 40 Achievers.
Sales Leader Tony Brown (L) congratulates Mansa Nicome on being selected as a 40 Under 40 Achiever. Also joining in the celebration are Michelle Hare, Multicultural Markets Specialist and Arlene J. Lester, Public Affairs Specialist.
The celebration took place at the Crowne Plaza in Times Square, NY and was attended by over 500 people. Mr. Nicome was recognized for his business acumen, community engagement and success in his field.
The jingle Like a good neighbor, State Farm is there is more than just a catchy promotional tune for Mansa Nicome. A native of Trinidad and Tobago who migrated to Brooklyn, N.Y., at the age of 6, Nicome began his career with insurance giant State Farm in 2001 as a claims processor. He moved on to positions in various departments before opening his own State Farm agency in Neptune City, NJ in 2008. I didnt always know that I wanted to be a business owner per se, but I knew that I always wanted to be in a leadership position and be able to help people, Nicome explains.
Nicome has a bachelors degree in economics from Stony Brook University and an MBA in corporate finance from Dowling College, and became a chartered financial consultant (ChFC®) this year. He cites his father, who worked full time to support the family while studying pharmacy, as a stellar example of a hard worker.
Besides owning a business that employs several local residents, Nicome gives back to his community in other ways: He is affiliated with the Midtown Urban Revitalization Council and the Asbury Park and Neptune Township National Night Out Against Crime, and is a member of Alpha Phi Alpha, a fraternity renowned for service to and advocacy for Black communities.
Mr. Nicome advises youngsters who hope to be entrepreneurs to Have a Plan A, but never a Plan B. Plan B means that youre open to failure and that should never be an option. Along with his team, Nicome uses his agency to help families manage the risks of everyday life while educating them on how to successfully secure their financial future.
