Assemblyman Anthony Bucco Joins The Trip at Afterschool Programs In New Jersey

Morristown, NJ, March 5, 2013 The 4th annual Road to Literacy campaign recently came to Morristown, NJ with a stop at the Neighborhood House afterschool program. Students enjoyed reading books at the program and received books to take home to share with their families.
Thanks to generous support from State Farm and Enterprise Rent-A-Car, New Jersey After 3 hosts the Road to Literacy campaign. New Jersey After 3s program provides resources for students in afterschool programs throughout NJ to participate in a Semester of Service, commencing on Martin Luther King Day through Global Youth Service Day. Participating afterschool programs will also honor New Jersey After 3s READS! literacy initiative aimed to keep kids on a positive Road to Literacy throughout their lives.
To commence the Semester of Service Road to Literacy campaign, forty corporate volunteers from Enterprise Rent-A-Car and State Farm participated in this years Road to Reading Across America celebration on March 5, 2013. Volunteers visited the following NJ After 3 READS! supported afterschool programs and gave students more than 1000 books that were collected as donations at 100 participating Enterprise Rent-A-Car locations throughout the holiday season. Enterprise Rent-A-Car & State Farm also worked with New Jersey After 3 to create 2012 Reading Journals that were also disseminated to each afterschool student. This customized literacy tool was designed with inspiration from Dr. Seuss and was presented to students as part of a motivational writing exercise where students could create their own fun & lyrical Dr. Seuss inspired first journal entry.
