State Farm® Contributes $15,000 to Christmas Day Storm Recovery

American Red Cross and Murphy High School to Benefit

Mobile, AL (January 11, 2013)

State Farm® is taking an extra step to help the Mobile area recover from the December tornadoes. The company is donating a total of $15,000 towards the recovery effort. State Farm is partnering with an organization called Donor's Choose and donating $10,000 to help teachers buy badly needed supplies for their classrooms at Murphy High School, and a $5,000 donation to the overall community effort through the American Red Cross.

Murphy High School suffered extensive damage during the Christmas Day storm. Students are currently attending class at Clark-Shaw Magnet School. The Red Cross itself suffered damage to its property during a recent tornado outbreak.

A check presentation for both donations will be held on Monday, January 14 at 3:30 p.m. at Clark-Shaw Magnet School located at 5960 Arlberg Street in Mobile. The presentation will be held during a teachers' meeting. State Farm and school officials will surprise teachers with the announcement that they will be able to make a list of supplies they need for their rooms. The media is invited to cover the event.
