Licking County Coalition for Housing is pleased to announce that the State Farm Insurance Co. has made a generous award in support of the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program.
The State Farm award of $24,200 will help tremendously to defray the costs of the program in 2013 and to strengthen it for 2014. "I'm glad we can help support such a valuable program," said Kimberly Lust, Public Affairs Specialist for State Farm.
For the second consecutive year, State Farm has awarded LCCH a Good Neighbor Citizenship® Company Grant to help fund free income tax preparation and financial literacy services for low to moderate-income taxpayers in Licking County. Although VITA utilizes certified volunteers to prepare taxes, there are costs associated with training, marketing, management, office space, equipment and supplies.
Last year, LCCH's VITA program volunteers prepared 506 individual tax returns, bringing a total of nearly $600,000 in refunds and credits back to the Licking County economy. The average individual tax refund was $1,125.
To make an appointment, please call (740) 345-1970 x 200. Beginning January 24th, VITA services will be offered at varying times at several sites: LCCH, Opportunity Links, OSU-N/COTC, United Way of Licking County, and others.
LCCH is partnering with the United Way of Central Ohio, Tax Time Coalition and the IRS to provide the VITA services. LCCH is a 501(c)(3)non-profit organization, registered with the State of Ohio. LCCH is a Partner Agency with the United Way of Licking County.
