It was food, fun games, face painting, jumpers, a dress-up booth, and more at the Teach For America Student Achievement Carnival on June 12 at the Gratts Primary Center in Los Angeles.

During the event, State Farm presented Teach For America with a check for $450,000. State Farm believes in giving all children access to a first-rate education. These funds will help build better schools through accountability-based education that identifies goals, measures results, and promotes collaboration.

The Student Achievement Carnival was a place for Los Angeles Teach For America Corps members, staff, and supporters to come together and celebrate our Corps members and their students’ hard work and accomplishments during the school year.

Tom Conley, senior vice president for State Farm Insurance in California, who attended and spoke at the event said, “Teach for America is critical in helping us change the outcome for many of our students – students who haven’t always received the quality education we know they deserve. State Farm is proud to be a leading business partner focused on improving the educational opportunities for our children. We believe Teach for America is a key strategy that helps address the challenges our nations faces in education.”

Michelle Culver, vice president of regional operations for Teach For America added, “Thanks to State Farm’s continued support of Teach For America in Los Angeles, we’ve been able to further our work to expand educational opportunities for students in our city’s greatest-need schools.”

State Farm Public Affairs Specialist Samona Caldwell attended the event and said, “The carnival provided an opportunity for the corps members and their families to come together and celebrate their accomplishments. The level of enthusiasm at the event illustrated not only their appreciation for Teach for America, but also for State Farm for providing a generous donation to continue their programs.”
