Georgia agent assists couple with home delivery

Like a Good Neighbor, State Farm® is there – with a pickup truck.

On a recent Saturday, Virginia Sikes, a claims service assistant in the Marietta, Ga., Operations Center, said her daughter, Joelle, and son-in-law, Cavan, bought a 50-inch, flat screen TV at a local shopping center.

Excited about their new purchase, reality hit home when the couple rolled their cart over to their Isuzu Rodeo and realized there was no way that large TV was going into that small SUV.
What to do?

SNAP! Just like in the State Farm magic jingle commercials, State Farm Agent Mike Martin of Dallas, Ga., suddenly appeared, wearing a State Farm shirt and ready for business.

Introducing himself, Mike told the young couple, “Looks like ya’ll need some help.”

His wrapped truck was parked nearby. The agent offered to load the TV on his truck and follow the couple to their house.

They accepted his generous offer. At their house, Martin even unloaded the TV and helped carry it to their den.

When offered some gas money for his trouble, Martin refused, saying he was just glad to help out. He walked back to his truck, smiling.

Sikes said her daughter and son-in-law are so grateful for Martin’s help and have shared their story with friends and family.

“They have told all of their friends about how a State Farm agent just appeared and offered to help them when they needed it so badly – and they didn’t even sing the song,” Sikes said. “They are glad they have their cars and rental insurance with State Farm.”
