Customers Receive Falsified Emails from State FarmŪ Agents
On July 23, 2012 - State Farm Bank® customers and non-customers reported receiving a falsified email from a State Farm Agent. The email usually contained the subject line “…, a thank you from Jim Stewart - State Farm Agent”. The body of the email states that you have been issued a free gift card and only need to click the link to redeem it.
This is a common phishing attempt and is tailored to appear to be a legitimate reward from a State Farm® Agent.
As a reminder, please do not disclose any personal information if requested via an unsolicited phone call or e-mail. Some examples of personal information include:
- State Farm Bank account number(s)
- Credit card number(s)
- Personal Identification Number(s) (PIN)
- Password(s)
- Social Security Number
