Customers Receive Falsified Emails from State Farm Bank®

 

On September 27, 2012 - State Farm Bank® customers and non-customers reported receiving a falsified email from State Farm Bank. The email usually contained the subject line “Unauthorized Access: Your account was flagged”. The body of the email states that steps are needed to protect your online accounts. You are then asked to download an attached file.

Do not download or click on the attached file!!

This is a common phishing attempt and is tailored to indicate it is from State Farm.
As a reminder, State Farm will never email you attachments that must be downloaded or clicked on to protect your accounts. As always, never disclose any personal information if requested via an unsolicited phone call or e-mail. Some examples of personal information include:

  • State Farm Bank account number(s)
  • Credit card number(s)
  • Personal Identification Number(s) (PIN)
  • Password(s)
  • Social Security Number

State Farm has been receiving complaints from our customers
for unauthorised use of the State Farm online accounts.
As a result we are making an extra security check on all of our customers account in order to protect their information from theft and fraud.

Due to this, you are requested to follow the provided steps and confirm your online State Farm details for the safety of your Accounts.

Kindly download the attached file to complete to secure your State Farm account.

However, Failure to do so may result in temporary account suspension.
Please understand that this is a security measure intended to help protect you and your account.

We apologize for any inconvenience.
