Customers Received Falsified Letter from State Farm Bank
Details
On October 12, 2011, State Farm Bank® customers and non-customers reported receiving a falsified email from State Farm Bank. The email usually contained the subject line “Online Banking Notifications”. The body of the email stated during recent account maintenance and verification procedures, an error was detected in the recipient's account. The email prompts the recipient to click on a link and verify online account information.
This is a common phishing attempt and is tailored to indicate it is from various financial institutions.
As a reminder, please do not disclose any personal information if requested via an unsolicited phone call or e-mail. Some examples of personal information include:
- State Farm Bank account number(s)
- Credit card number(s)
- Personal Identification Number(s) (PIN)
- Password(s)
- Social Security Number

Dear Customer,
Due to concerns, for the safety and integrity of the State Farm Bank® we have issued this warning message.
It has come to our attention that your State Farm Bank® account information needs to be updated as part of our continuing commitment to protect your account and to reducer the instance of fraud on our website. If you could please take 5-7 minutes out of your online banking experience and update your personal records you will not run into any future problems with the online service.

We noticed invalid login attempt into your account online from an unknown IP address. "87.248.110.144".
Due to this, we have temporarily suspended your account.
We need you to update your account information for your online banking to be re-activated please update your billing information today by clicking here www.onlilne2.statefarm.com/SSOLogin-Web/pages. After a few clicks, just certify the information you entered is correct so your account would be reactivated.
