Customers Received Fraudulent Text Message from State Farm Bank
On October 28, 2011, State Farm Bank® customers and non-customers reported receiving a fraudulent text message from State Farm Bank. The text message refers to a Netspend Account and mentions charges from State Farm. The text appears to come from the number 800-956-6310 and calling the number results in a machine indicating the number is State Farm and instructs the caller to contact their agent. While the number above is a State Farm phone number, customers should be advised that factual information can, and often is used fraudulently to enhance the credibility of a scam.
As a reminder, please do not disclose any personal information if requested via an unsolicited phone call, e-mail or text message. Some examples of personal information include:
- State Farm Bank account number(s)
- Credit card number(s)
- Personal Identification Number(s) (PIN)
- Password(s)
- Social Security Number
