Alert: State Farm Bank Customers and non-State Farm Bank customers, are receiving phishing emails branded with the State Farm logo. (06/12/2008)
The email urges the reader to take action or they will be locked out of their account. The email recipient is being requested to access a link in the email and to provide customer account related details. Neither the email, nor the link provided is affiliated with State Farm.
Additional Details: If you believe you receive this suspicious email, be aware of text stating "State Farm Online Banking, is hereby announcing the New Security Upgrade. We've upgraded our new SSL servers to serve our customers for a better and secure banking service against fraud and unusual sign-in difficulties. Due to this recent upgrade, you are requested to update your account information by clicking the reference below."
State Farm encourages you to practice good security habits:
* Do not disclose any personal identity information if requested via an unsolicited phone call or e-mail, including:
* State Farm Bank account numbers
* Credit card numbers
* Personal Identification Numbers (PIN)
* Passwords
* Social Security Number
If you receive such emails or notifications that are questionable, please report them to your State Farm Agent or contact State Farm at 1-877-734-2265.
