Unauthorized Transactions
Visa® CheckCard
If your lost or stolen Visa CheckCard is used at a Visa merchant, you will not be held liable as long you report the fraud in a timely manner as detailed in your disclosure agreement. If you determine a charge has been fraudulently made, you will need to dispute the charge (details below).
If your lost or stolen Visa CheckCard or ATM Card is used at a non-Visa merchant, your liability for unauthorized transactions is capped at $50 if you notify State Farm Bank® within two business days of discovering your card is missing. The maximum liability you may incur is $500.
Visa Credit Card
If your Visa Credit Card is lost or stolen, notify State Farm Bank immediately. You may be liable for unauthorized use of your Card if your gross negligence results in unauthorized use. You will not be liable for unauthorized use that occurs if you notify us orally, or in writing at 1-877-734-2265 or State Farm Bank, P.O. Box 84062, Columbus, Georgia 31908-4062, of the loss, theft or possible unauthorized use. The maximum liability for unauthorized use you may incur will not exceed $50.
How to Dispute a Charge
To dispute a charge on your account statement for a State Farm Bank Visa Credit Card/ CheckCard/ATM Card, please call 1-877-SF4-BANK / 1-877-734-2265.
We will need the following information to process your dispute:
- Account number associated with the dispute
- Amount of the dispute
- Description of the dispute
- Transaction date of the dispute (must be less than 60 days from the statement date the charge appears)
- The reason you wish to dispute the transaction, e.g., merchandise was never received or returned with no credit
