What do I wear?
We recommend you wear business casual clothes for your first day.
Our Dress Philosophy allows for relaxed, casual attire. But each zone and Corporate department determines to what extent casual wear – including jeans – is appropriate. So to play it safe, we suggest you dress business casual until you better understand what’s appropriate for your work environment.
Don’t forget to bring …
On your first day of work, you’ll need to provide us with document(s) that verify your identity, as well as your eligibility for employment in the United States.
As we stated in your final job offer letter, you will be receiving an email notification with instructions for completing the electronic Form I-9 Employment Eligibility Verification form. Please complete Section 1 of Form I-9 as instructed in the email using the web address, login, and password provided.
If you do not receive this separate communication prior to your start date, please contact your recruiter or hiring manager immediately. You may also want to check your spam folder in the event your email provider did not recognize the sender as firstname.lastname@example.org. If you have already completed Section 1, thank you!
On your first day, please remember to bring your Form I-9 Acceptable Documents. You’ll need to bring either one document from List A or one document each from List B and List C. These must be original documents – we cannot accept photocopies or facsimiles. To view the paper Form I-9 and the list of Acceptable Documents go to: Form I-9, Employment Eligibility Verification.
In addition, if you are located in the state of California or New York you were sent a Wage Theft Prevention Notice (WTPA) with your final offer. Please print, review, sign, and bring the notice with you on your first day. If you did not receive this notice with your final offer, contact your recruiter.
You also may want to review Federal W-4 and State tax information. Go to: Form W-4 and Tax Worksheets. You’ll receive information about how to submit your tax withholdings information through the Employee Self Service (ESS) site on the Company intranet home page.
Where do I go?
Refer to your final job offer letter for information about where to go and who to report to your first day of work. Only authorized individuals can enter a State Farm building, so you’ll be entering a Visitor or Security entrance until you get your security badge. The badge, which you should receive on your first day, gives you appropriate access.
See a map of State Farm offices around the country and Canada.
What will I do on my first day?
You will receive a welcome letter in your Company email account on your first day of work with a link to the Employee Onboarding site.
Our Employee Onboarding site is designed just for our new employees to help you get oriented with things outside of your day-to-day job responsibilities like our Company programs, resources, and people. We've organized all the things you need to learn, review, and complete in easy to follow learning plans. You’ll also complete mandatory courses and learn about how to enroll in benefits (for eligible employees).
Be sure to take the time to view the one-demand New Employee Orientation videos located on the Employee Onboarding site and work through your Learning Plans!
