A Place to Grow

I found a place where I could grow. It’s the biggest. We’re number one, so I don’t think you can find a better place to start a career.

Even though I came on as an intern, they gave me real work to do and I like the fact that when you came in, they had a mentor who sat next to you to help you when you needed help but also to let you be on your own to learn and develop.

State Farm ended up being a long-term solution for me versus a short-term solution hopping from one company to another company trying to increase my salary and increase my position. I didn’t have to do that. I didn’t have to quit one company, start at another company, and start at another company to get my promotions. I could do that all internally here at State Farm.

We deal with a lot of the other Fortune 500 companies. And that allows us to stay really up to date with industry. And see where the other companies our size are going.

If you’re interested in a particular field, don’t make the assumption that we don’t offer it because we’re an insurance and financial services company. Take a look and ask us questions. I bet you’ll find there’s a lot more beneath the surface than you expected.

I found a company that really cares about me. And you don’t find that everywhere. But they’ve proven it time and time again.

I’d say the pay is very competitive, but if you just look at your total salary that’s offered without considering the benefits State Farm pays …

State Farm offers a pension plan. A lot of companies are getting away from that. But State Farm has pension and a 401(k).

State Farm has some great health care and retirement benefits.

One thing that I think is a little bit different than our competitors is that we have a park that we can go to that offers a lot of different things to do.

State Farm Employees Association sponsors activities such as intramurals, such as basketball, volleyball, baseball, softball. Any sport you can think of, they have it.

I found a great place to work. In terms of opportunities, challenges, a relaxed atmosphere. It’s been just perfect. We have restaurants, great tools to do our job. They truly support us.

When a new person comes to State Farm, what we do is try to match their skills to the position, get them into the right place.

It’s interesting because I started with a group of people right out of college. Many of us are still here. I do believe it’s because we have found the challenging environment. I think it’s a great place to be.
