Drive Safe & Save™

Empowering Your Drive®

Take control and get discounts up to 50%* on your auto insurance.

How It Works

You’re a good driver. With our Drive Safe & Save™ program, being a good driver actually gives you more control over how much you can save on your auto insurance.

Here’s how it works: Using your vehicle’s OnStar, In-Drive or SYNC communication service, we collect basic information about your driving. We then use the information to calculate your discount. The safer you drive, the more you save–it’s that easy.

Drive Safe & Save FAQs

  • Does enrolling in the Drive Safe & Save program guarantee me a discount?

Most customers who enroll in Drive Safe & Save will see a discount. However, if you currently receive a discount for low estimated annual mileage (under 7,500 miles annually for personal use) and your vehicle is actually driven more than that, your premium may increase at a future policy renewal period. Please contact your State Farm agent if you have further questions or for more information.

State Farm will request odometer information and, in some cases, driving characteristics, from the provider of your communication service approximately 30 days after you sign up for Drive Safe & Save. If we are unable to obtain odometer readings at that point, your State Farm agent will contact you. If you do not have the capability, we will remove the initial participation discount starting from the effective date it was added.

  • How often is my discount calculated when I am enrolled with Drive Safe & Save?

Your discount may be adjusted at each policy renewal period and will be based on the information collected from your communication service up to that point.

  • How is the Drive Safe & Save initial participation discount applied to a policy that is already in force? Will I receive a refund check when I sign up?

Your initial discount will be applied as of the effective date Drive Safe & Save is added to your policy. If your current policy term is paid in full, and the discount generates a credit of $10.00 or more, you will receive a refund check.

If the discount generates a credit of less than $10.00, the credit will be applied to your next policy term.

If there is a balance due for the current policy term, you will receive a revised balance due notice.

If your policy is on the State Farm Payment Plan (SFPP), a credit will be applied to the SFPP account and your monthly payment will be adjusted accordingly.

  • Is Drive Safe & Save only for drivers with spotless driving records?

Drivers with less than perfect driving records are eligible for a discount with Drive Safe & Save.

  • Can my auto premiums increase with Drive Safe & Save?

Drive Safe & Save only uses your driving information to calculate your discount.

  • What are the benefits of Drive Safe & Save?

Enrolling in Drive Safe & Save can help you get a discount up to 50%* on your auto insurance.
