The Business Insurance claims process made simple
It is a good idea to make a detailed inventory of your business property. Having this on hand will be valuable should you ever need to file a claim. A photographic record of items is helpful.
Contact us and report the damage or loss in order to start the process.
- Look for potential safety risks. Take reasonable steps to correct them.
- Take reasonable steps to prevent further damage.
- Keep an accurate record of your repair expenditures.
- Separate items that may be cleaned and/or repaired.
- Check with your claim representative before you discard any items you plan to claim as damaged.
- Review your policy for specific coverage information.
Once we have received notice of your claim, a claim representative will contact you as soon as possible.
You may wish to obtain estimates from contractors experienced in repair work. If your loss is eligible, you may be interested in our State Farm® Premier Service® Program.
Major damage may require contractor/engineer inspections.
Some repairs may not be covered unless you purchased a specific endorsement.
Make an inventory of damage:
This inventory should be room-by-room, giving complete descriptions of the damaged property.
The description should include brand names, model numbers, age, purchase price, and place of purchase.
If your business is unable to continue operations:
- Ask your State Farm claim representative about any coverages that may be available under your policy.
- If possible, do not enter into any long-term leases until you talk to a State Farm claim representative.
