Supplemental Medical Insurance*
* Supplemental Medical is the marketing name for the Hospital Income, Hospital Indemnity, and Hospital Confinement Indemnity policy series 97024.
For most of us, a stay in the hospital for a covered injury or sickness will mean extra expenses for a variety of things that may not be covered by our primary health insurance policy.
Things like:
- Deductibles and Co-insurance
- Private Room and Private Duty Nursing Fees
- Transportation
- Long Distance Phone Calls
- Child Care
- Lawn & House Care
- Meals Out
- Pet Care
- State Farm® offers a Supplemental Medical insurance policy that can help provide the money you'll need to pay for those extra expenses when you're hospitalized (see Note below). It can offer you an ideal way to supplement your health insurance coverage.
Policy benefits
- Daily Benefit: When a covered person is confined to a hospital for a covered injury or sickness, State Farm pays the selected daily benefit amount for each day of confinement, for up to 365 days.
- Intensive Care: When intensive care is needed, State Farm pays an additional benefit (equal to the daily benefit amount) for each day of intensive care, for up to 14 days for any one confinement.
- Accidental Injury: State Farm pays up to five times the daily benefit amount for x-rays or emergency first aid, if received within 72 hours of the injury.
- Outpatient Surgery: When Outpatient Surgery is performed, State Farm pays the daily benefit amount for outpatient surgery that is not otherwise covered by outpatient benefits under this policy.
- Extended Care: State Farm pays one-half the daily benefit amount per day, for up to 60 days per calendar year, while in a qualified Extended Care Facility. In most states, extended care must begin within 14 days after at least 3 days of hospital confinement.
Other things you'll like about our Supplemental Medical policy:
- Benefits start the first day of confinement...no deductible...no waiting period...and benefits are payable for up to one year.
- Unless you tell us otherwise, or benefits are assigned according to state law, benefits are paid directly to you. You decide how the money is spent.
- Family coverage is available for you, your spouse, and your children.
- Newborn children are covered from the moment of birth when confined to a hospital for a covered injury or sickness. Coverage will be continued if the Company is notified promptly and the applicable premium paid within the time specified.
