More than 75 years in Life Insurance
State Farm® began selling life insurance more than 75 years ago in April 1929. While starting a life insurance business at the beginning of the Great Depression was a challenge, State Farm's commitment to meeting customers' needs helped the business survive and grow. By the end of 1929, State Farm agents sold 931 life insurance policies.
We've grown quite a bit since then. In 2001, State Farm agents submitted over 1 million life insurance applications, totaling more than $100 billion in coverage. Today, we have over 7 million life insurance and annuity policies in force.
Our success is built on a foundation of shared values, quality service and relationships, mutual trust, integrity and financial strength. These values were officially recognized when State Farm Life Insurance Company and State Farm Life and Accident Assurance Company were named members of the Insurance Marketplace Standards Association (IMSA). IMSA is an independent and voluntary organization created by the life insurance industry to promote ethical conduct.
To become an IMSA member, the State Farm Life companies went through a rigorous self-assessment by an independent consulting firm to verify that our policies and procedures met high IMSA standards. To stay a member of IMSA, this assessment and review process must be repeated every three years.
With more than 75 years of successful experience in the life insurance business, State Farm can help you meet your need.
