5 Year Term
State Farm®'s 5 Year Term provides affordable life insurance protection for a five year period and is renewable for subsequent 5-year periods until age 85 (age 80 in NY). It is great for covering any short-term life insurance needs you may have. Short-term life insurance needs may include such things as:
- Car loan
- College tuition
- Home equity loan
- Mortgage loan
- Business loan
- Student loan
- Key employee
Term insurance may also be appropriate when your life insurance needs are great but your budget is tight.
Eligible age at time of application: 16 - (75) (74 in NY)
Minimum policy: $50,000
- Premiums may be adjusted after 5 years, but will never exceed the maximum premiums stated in the policy.
- Waiver of Premium for Disability is optional.
- There are limitations and conditions regarding payment of benefits due to misrepresentations on the application and when death is the result of suicide.
Convertible: If your temporary needs turn to permanent needs, this policy may be converted while in force to any whole life policy offered by State Farm® at the time of conversion, subject to established policy minimums. This conversion may be made at any time, up to the anniversary when the insured is age 75 or the fifth policy anniversary (whichever is later), while the policy is in force.
Optional riders: You can enhance your 5 Year Term policy and provide additional protection for you and your family. The following riders are available with our 5 Year Term policy for an additional premium:
- Additional Insured Rider: provides term insurance to protect an additional insured on your policy. There are a number of coverages and amounts available to provide life insurance coverage that is right for you.
- Children's Term Rider: provides temporary insurance for each child that is named on the application, and any children acquired in the future. This insurance can be converted while in force, regardless of health, to provide continuing life insurance for each child.
- Guaranteed Insurability Option: this rider "insures the insurability'' of the insured. With this rider an insured has the right to buy additional amounts of insurance, on specific option dates, without evidence of insurability, at standard rates.
- Waiver of Premium For Disability: protects your life insurance at a time when income may be limited due to a disability. When the insured becomes totally disabled for 6 continuous months, as defined in the policy, this coverage will waive all future policy premiums as long as the insured continues to be totally disabled.
These are only general descriptions of coverage. A complete statement of coverage is found only in the policy.
