Residential property owners may be able to obtain a reduction in their residential insurance premium based on roofing materials. In some states/provinces, use of qualifying impact-resistant roofing products may qualify for significant premium discounts. Premium reductions are not available for roofs, other than qualifying metal roofs, that have been overlaid onto existing roofs.
Discounts are currently available in the following states and provinces.
| Alberta | Louisiana | North Dakota |
| Arkansas | Michigan | Oklahoma |
| Colorado | Minnesota | South Dakota |
| Illinois | Missouri | Tennessee |
| Indiana | Montana | Texas |
| Iowa | Nebraska | Wisconsin |
| Kansas | New Mexico | Wyoming |
| Kentucky |
Contact your State Farm agent before installing an impact-resistant roof, or for more information about roofing discounts and other home safety and security information.
Of course, the choice of roofing materials used on your home is up to you. It's always a good idea to discuss roof safety and impact resistance with your roofing contractor.
