Automatic sprinklers are designed to control a fire even when a building is not occupied. Commercial sprinkler systems are about 95% effective when properly installed and maintained.
The checklist contains some items you can evaluate to increase the chance that this life and property saving device will work if a fire occurs.
Proper care of a system requires periodic evaluation by both you, the property owner or tenant, and a qualified sprinkler contractor. Proper maintenance will reduce the chance of a system malfunctioning and accidental sprinkler leakage as well.
The checklist provides a basic guide for evaluating the sprinkler system in your building. It is not intended to take the place of regular servicing by a qualified sprinkler contractor.
