Kids.now
Kids.now and State Farm are teaming up to help students make the right life choices.
Kids.now is an after-school program that trains passionate volunteers to become coaches and guide young people away from making decisions that could negatively affect their futures.
Coaches help kids develop the skills to deal with issues such as drugs, bullying, family stress or other life issues. And the coaches show kids how to make the right choices for a healthy, satisfying and productive life.
When a school is interested in offering the kids.now program, kids.now chooses a volunteer coach best suited for the interested school. Teachers at participating schools select students in grades 7 and 8 to be mentored by kids.now coaches. These students are selected based on personal drive to do their best in life- not by their grades, athleticism or popularity.
The coaches go through extensive training and are well-versed in course materials including manuals, posters and work books with interactive exercises and activities.
You can help kids.now by recommending a school in your neighbourhood that could be benefited by the presence of kids.now, apply to become a volunteer coach or attend the graduation ceremony at a local kids.now school. For more information, visit kidsnowcanada.org. |
