Development: Professional Education and Tuition Reimbursement
At State Farm®, the way you develop your skills and competencies and manage your career is a partnership between you and your management. As an employee, you are responsible for driving your development plan, but your management also plays a key supporting role in helping you achieve your goals.
Employee development is voluntary — you decide how and when to invest in your career, but your development must be intentional. No matter where you are in your career, we encourage you to think about your development, your career goals and how to achieve them.
While a great deal of development occurs on the job, classroom or self-study can often enhance your skills and knowledge as well. Through our Learning and Development programs, State Farm offers you a variety of excellent courses to help you achieve business results and reach your full potential.
Our Learning and Development Department offers classroom, self-study and e-learning opportunities at no cost to you. The State Farm Learning Management System (SFLMS) enables employees to find and enroll in courses offered by the Company on subjects ranging from general business to technical training to personal effectiveness. A variety of tools and assessments are available to help you identify learning opportunities within State Farm that support the skills and competencies you want to develop.
Insurance Education and Job Specific Designation Programs represent additional avenues for broadening your knowledge of the insurance and financial services industries, or specific professions within those industries. The Company will pay for eligible enrollment fees, exam fees and study materials for eligible employees pursuing specific, approved job specific designations with supervisor approval.
For employees interested in further formal education, the State Farm Tuition Reimbursement Program provides financial assistance to employees completing eligible college courses and degree programs. Employees with one year of service and satisfactory job performance over the prior 12 months may be eligible to participate in the following programs with supervisor approval:
- The Individual Course Program is for employees taking specific college courses (including language courses) to enhance knowledge and skills in their current job function.
- The Bachelor's and Associate Degree Program is for employees pursuing a degree with a business-related focus.
- Master's Program is for employees pursuing a Master's degree with a business-related focus.
In addition to employee and degree/course eligibility, the college or university must meet certain accreditation standards.
