$5 Million in Service-Learning Grants Now Available

Bloomington, Ill., February 4, 2011 – The State Farm Youth Advisory Board has made its 2011 service-learning grant application available. Five million dollars will be granted to quality, youth-led service-learning initiatives.

Grants range from $25,000 to $100,000, and Request for Proposals (RFP) must be submitted online by May 2 at 5 p.m. CST. Complete details and contact information are available at State Farm Youth Advisory Board website.

Each grant request must focus in one of these issue areas as chosen by the board:

To be eligible to receive a grant from the board, applying organizations must be a public K-12, charter, or higher education institution; non-profit organizations are also eligible if they are able to demonstrate how they plan to impact student achievement in public K-12 schools.

As of June 2010, four years after the initial launch of the YAB, the board has awarded more than $16 million in grants to organizations in the U.S. and Canada and impacted more than 10.1 million lives.

About the State Farm Youth Advisory Board:

Thirty high school and college-aged youth oversee the granting of $5 million for student-led service-learning projects in the United States and in the Alberta, New Brunswick and Ontario provinces of Canada. The process is unique in that youth are given full responsibility and resource decisions.
