Things to think about

Filing a claim puts your policy to work. It’s kind of the reason why you have insurance in the first place, right?

Policy benefits may include:

  • Payment for vehicle repairs
  • Rental coverage
  • Payment for medical bills
  • Liability coverage if you are at fault for the accident

Still have questions? Talk it over with your State Farm agent.

You can file your auto & motorcycle claim by phone if you like, but filing online or with our app is fast and easy:

  • Be in control – check the status of your claim, upload photos and other documents, set up direct-deposit, communicate with your Claims team, get electronic notifications, and more.
  • Find a repair shop – The choice of repair shop is yours, but keep in mind our Select Service shops provide a guaranteed completion date and limited lifetime warranty.
  • Select a rental – If you have rental coverage on your policy, you may be able to choose a replacement vehicle to use while yours is in the shop.
  • Complete a virtual estimate – it’s fast and easy.
  • Take it easy – our mobile app lets you access claim information and complete tasks wherever you are, whenever you like.

Try to have this information handy when you file:

  • Date and time of incident
  • Vehicles involved
  • Description of the incident
  • Description of damages
  • Location of incident

It might. Factors that may be considered in determining premium rate increases:

  • Who was at fault for the accident
  • Accident frequency
  • Driving history
  • Amount of damage to other property

One way to help lower your rates is through our Drive Safe and Save® program.

We’ll help cover the costs of a rental car while yours is in the shop if you have rental coverage on your policy. Here’s a quick way to find out:

  • Check your State Farm insurance card.
  • Look for “Coverages".
  • If there’s an “R” in the line of characters, it means you’ve got rental car coverage.

It depends on the circumstances, but we’ve tried to make the process as easy as possible. You can even file and check your claim online, which is a fast way to get its status.

Also, email and text alerts can keep you in the loop, so you’ll be able to keep tabs on your claim, and find out if you have any tasks to complete.
