Investing involves risk including the risk of loss of principal. Although steps can be taken to help reduce risk, it cannot be completely removed. These risks include currency, political, social and economic risks. Some mutual funds or ETFs invest in niche assets which are less liquid and contain a higher risk of loss of principal than other forms of equity investments. There is the potential for greater price swings associated with niche assets. Equity investments generally involve greater risk than fixed−income investments and are generally subject to greater market fluctuation. The stocks of small companies are generally more volatile than the stocks of larger, more established companies. Foreign investments generally involve greater risks than U.S. investments, including political and economic risks and the risk of currency fluctuations. Bonds are subject to general interest rate risk and may decline in value due to an increase in interest rates. High−yield bond funds invest in fixed−income securities that at the time of purchase are non−investment grade, involve greater price volatility and present greater risks than higher−rated fixed−income securities.
