Finding and moving to your first apartment can be stressful—let State Farm make your move easier with a few tips from the life coach Laura Baron for finding your first apartment.
Tips for finding your first apartment
- Find an affordable apartment and stick to your budget. As a standard, two weeks' pay should be the maximum you should spend on rent.
- Know your non-negotiables. Know what's important to you when looking for your first apartment and find a place that offers amenities that you're looking for. For example, if having a coffee shop nearby is important to you, look for apartments with cafes nearby.
- Create a healthy living environment by finding a roommate that meets your criteria. Talk through the important key rules before moving in together.
Finally, don't forget to learn about renters insurance to protect your home and belongings.
