Items needed for a quote

Life Quote




Yes. You need an email address to complete an electronic application and view policy information documents.

Note: If you do not have an email address, contact a State Farm® agent to apply for coverage.



You can receive email notifications if you provide an email address and consent to email notifications. You will not receive any life quote or application notifications over text message.

If you do not have an email address and consent, contact your State Farm® agent for application notifications.



If you are interested in select term products, please proceed. If further questions or you are interested in additional types of life products, contact a State Farm Agent.

To request a term life insurance quote online:

  1. Locate Get a quote for term life insurance at the top of this page.
  2. In the State field, select your state from the drop-down list and click Go.
  3. Complete all of the information on the Life Insurance Quote page and click Get Quote.


To see your saved quote, complete these steps:

  1. Log in to statefarm.com®.
  2. Click Continue under the saved quote on your My Accounts page.

Note: You must be a statefarm.com registered user to retrieve saved quotes.



To send your quote to an agent, complete these steps:

  1. Locate Get a quote for term life insurance at the top of this page.
  2. In the State field, select your state from the drop-down list and click Go.
  3. Complete all of the information for the Life Insurance Quote page and click Get Quote.
  4. Complete the information on the Customize Policy page or review the Your Quote Summary screen.
  5. Click Send to Agent in the left corner of the screen.
  6. Complete the required information on the Send to Agent screen and click Send to Agent.

Note: Once the agent accesses the quote or application, you will no longer have access to edit your quote or application. However, you can view the progress of your application through Customer Life Underwriting Status View (CLUSV) on My Accounts.



Yes. You can retrieve your life quote and application in these ways:

  • Follow the instructions in the email you received.
  • Log in to statefarm.com® and click Continue under the saved quote you want to view.

Note: If it has been more than 30 days since the quote was saved, you must start a new quote.



Yes. Once you choose a product, you can save your quote by clicking Save at the bottom of any page. The saved quote is available for 30 days.

Note: If it has been more than 30 days since the quote was saved, you must start a new quote.



You can choose a State Farm agent when you get a life insurance policy quote on statefarm.com®. If you do not choose an agent before you start an application, the system will assign one. Once you start a life application, you will not be able to change your agent.



No. Not all life products are available to apply online. Contact a State Farm® agent if you cannot apply online for a specific product.


Life Application


To check your life application status:

  1. Log in to statefarm.com® to access your My Accounts page.
  2. Select Click Here to view the Life Underwriting Status. The Customer Life Underwriting Status View (CLUSV) appears.

Note: If you started the application on a different device than the one you are checking the status on, you are required to re-authenticate the new device on statefarm.com.



Yes. If you start an application online and contact an agent for assistance, the agent can edit the application before you sign it. Once all parties involved complete the signature process, the agent can submit the application.



You can only receive your documents electronically if your agent submits your life application and selects an electronic delivery option.



Yes. If you complete the application online you can sign electronically.

You can also sign documents electronically if the application is submitted by an agent and they select Email Initiated Signatures. Once the agent selects the electronic signature option, you will receive an email with a link to apply signatures.

Note: Email signature options are available based on state and policy selection type.



Yes. Contact your agent and they can resend your eSignature email request.

Note: The eSignature email is only valid for 30 days.



Certain responses to the questions on the life application will cause it to be forwarded to a State Farm® agent. When this occurs, contact a State Farm agent to continue the application process.



You need the following information to complete a life insurance application:

  • Personal
  • Medical
  • Lifestyle and travel
  • Payment information

Note: Depending on your age and the coverage type you select, you may not need to provide all of the above information.



If you are unable to complete your life application on statefarm.com®, contact your State Farm agent® to continue the application process.



You cannot edit your application on your My Accounts page in the following situations:

  • You signed and submitted the application
  • An agent has retrieved your application



Life Supporting Documents


State Farm® does not support downloading or viewing PDF documents from My Documents on Android smartphones.



Yes. Click My Documents to view PDF documents. If a blank window appears, navigate back to the My Documents tab or window, but do not close it. The selected document will automatically open in the previous blank tab or window.



Lab results are available once they are received by Life Underwriting.

Complete these steps to print your lab results:

  1. Log in to statefarm.com® to access your My Accounts page.
  2. Click View your application.
  3. On the Verify your Identity page, verify your identity.
  4. Click Next. Your Life Insurance Application page appears.
  5. Click Download Laboratory Results.

Life Payments & Billing


Based on the coverage amount and the details you provide on the application, these are the possible payment options available:

  • Pay Now
  • Pay Later

Note: If you do not see a payment option, call 1-800-782-8332.



No. The quote is free. Quotes are based on the information you provide and product you select. The quote is not a contract, binder, or agreement to extend life insurance coverage.

Additional Life Insurance FAQs

No, Multiple Line Discounts (MLD) only apply to auto insurance premiums and vary by state. Contact a State Farm® agent for questions on qualifying policies and available discounts.



All life insurance policies offered by State Farm® are participating, or eligible for dividends. However, certain policies types, such as Term or Universal Life, are not anticipated to earn dividends.



If you qualify for a binding receipt, coverage under the binding receipt begins once the premium is paid and the binding receipt is issued. If you do not qualify for a binding receipt, coverage begins only when the Life Company approves your application for insurance and the premium is paid.



No. The binding receipt provides temporary life insurance coverage according to the terms contained in the receipt. Coverage under the binding receipt ends in any of the following situations:

  • Approval of the application
  • Notification of disapproval of the application
  • 60 days from the application date


No. Replacements cannot be processed online. Contact a State Farm® agent about replacing existing coverage.



To exit the application, click Close at the bottom of the page or the X at the top of the page.

Note: After you click the X, you must wait 30 minutes before you can log back on to the application. If you cannot log on to the system, please call 1-888-559-1922.



You may not be able to log on because of these reasons:

  • Clicking X to exit the application
  • Technical difficulties
  • Authentication issues
